Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls Orange County is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization that empowers girls, women, non-binary, and transgender folx in a safe space dedicated to collaborative musical creation, bridging cultural boundaries and cultivating community.
We envision an Orange County where sexism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, classism, ableism, ageism and displacement are no longer realities for us. Where girls, women, non-binary, and transgender folx collaborate with one another instead of competing with each other; a world where we understand that all bodies are good bodies, where we have broken down boundaries of age, economics, culture, and binary character; a world where we lift each other up instead of putting each other down; a world where music is an intergenerational activity that cultivates community and holds space for youth who are being shut out by the increasing gentrification happening in our county and beyond. We embody this vision for a week and envision it as an integral part of our collective future.
We value collective work centered in justice and healing in direct opposition to practices that hurt vulnerable members of our community. We value spreading the joy of playing music to everyone, smashing the patriarchy and gender roles with its power. We respect people of all abilities, different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and gender identities, recognizing the uniqueness of each individual and how they express themselves. We value learning how to combat oppression in our lives, and providing a soapbox for Orange County’s youth to rock while not turning anyone away for lack of funds.
